Merchandiser
is the linking bridge between Buyer & Exporter. He execute the order from
confirmation to shipment. So Merchandising is very valuable department in the Apparel
Industry. Today here mention the main responsibility of a production
merchandiser.
Following are the main
responsibilities of merchandisers.
Before getting order.
Ø communicating
with buyers by mail for new queries as well as updates
Ø Successful
meeting with buyer about new development as per buyer requirement for new
season.
Ø Collecting all kinds of resources including swatch, accessories and samples.
Ø submission
of development samples to buyer through
courier
Ø
After
receiving development sample buyer short out style for final order. At that
time the main task done by merchandiser is costing. To get a order there is
nothing so much important to give a reasonable price. After price confirmation
then start work for bulk production. The working procedure are as below.
After
getting order
§ To collect the PO (purchase order) from buyer.
§ To maintain merchandising files and updating time and action plan (TNA)
§ To prepare an order plan, according to the right product, in
the right place, at the right time, in the right quantities, at the right
price, in the right promotion.
§ To break down the order sheet.
§ Makes all kinds of booking.
§ To prepare the order costing and price quoting.
§ To set up internal order list.
§ To monitor the garments sample process according to the buyer
requirement.
§ To collect the all of garments fabric, accessories &
trims.
§ To get lab dips.
§ To ensure buyer approval.
§ To in house all kinds of accessories and fabric
§ To make sure productions follow up.
§ Print, embroidery follow up and maintain proper quality
§ To maintain product quality.
§ To follow up shipment process according to the buyer
instructions.
§ To ensure smooth shipment process.
Those are basic things that a
merchandiser have to do. But there have much more things that they have to follow
up. Sometimes such a chilly mistake make a huge disaster in garments
production. That’s why they have to keep a close follow up and a cure
concentration on their work.
